Signage

Rachel Obermoller, MnDOT Office of Aeronautics

MnDOT Aeronautics suggests airports identify parking areas with signage as well as indicate areas that are for authorized personnel such as pilots and passengers only—for instance, the ramp area. Many times this signage is used in conjunction with fencing, gates, or other physical demarcation.  Airports may choose to make or procure their own signs for this, or can procure these signs through the MnDOT sign shop. For examples of signs that might be appropriate for your airport or for help in ordering through the MnDOT sign shop, airport managers or personnel should contact their regional Aviation Representative or Airport Development Engineer in the Office of Aeronautics.
