MnDOT Office of Aeronautics
Airports need to keep good financial records showing the inflow and outflow of funds. Federal and state grant agreements require that any money made at the airport is spent on airport needs. Airports also need to have a NOTAM log so there is a record of what NOTAMs are in place and when they were established. They also should have a record of cancelled NOTAMs. The airport should also keep a log of runway inspections with the date and time completed. Airports also need to know about their tenants: who occupies each hangar and what aircraft are based on the field and who the owner is and what businesses are operating on the airport. For airport with fuel systems they need to record their fuel sample results. These are just some of the record keeping requirements that go along with operating an airport.
